Bengaluru: Four goals, including a hat-trick from Jamil Abdul,ensured St. Hopkins College top honours at the inaugural Bengaluru FC College Football Face-Off, beating Al Ameen College 4-1 in the final at the Bangalore Football Stadium, here on Sunday.

Bengaluru FC skipper Sunil Chhetri along with fellow teammates Darren Caldeira and Keegan Pereira were present at the final as the boys from Hopkins ran riot over their opponents.

Abdul’s first goal came in the opening stages of the game after a defensive lapse allowed him to slot past a hapless Al Ameen ’keeper. The tall striker then doubled the lead with afierce shot into the roof of the net minutes later. Al Ameen College halved the deficit with a swift counter after the break when Rishi Anto set up Santosh Mfor a tap in.

Anto was then shown ayellow card for a rash tackle and Al Ameen’s hopes of a comeback slipped away with Abdul striking again for his hat-trick. The game was then put to bed withChristopher Mighty scoring St. Hopkins’ fourth in the dying minutes.

The winners and runners up were presented their trophies by the BFC players along with gift vouchers from PUMA. St. Hopkins College striker Jamil Abdul took home the match-ball, signed by the BFC players in attendance, forhis hat-trick in the final.
The two day extravaganza saw 24 teams take part, with 16 teams qualifying for the knockout rounds on Sunday. Unido FC and Team Weekend from CMS Jain University were the other semi-finalists.
